ouch *pang of guilt*
Well, it's been a good but crazy week. Drew (the 2 year old I watch) has been fighting his asthma and a cold all week. On Wednesday morning, I noticed that his heart was racing....... 70 beats in 30 seconds. Yikes!!! A couple of phone calls to and from the pediatrician, and we had an "emergency appointment". They told me to bring him in ASAP and they would bump someone else's appt. b/c they wanted to see this racing heart. He was also very wheezy that morning. Keep in mind that all day Tuesday, he was fine (except for a running nose). Tuesday evening he started coughing and ended up throwing up right before bed b/c he was coughing so hard. Anyways, back to Wednesday... We went to the doc, they did an RSV and strep test on him. Thank goodness they came back negative. Apparently, his cold aggravated his asthma, which put a strain on his body. His body had to work harder to function, which leads us back to the racing heart. I felt bad that I didn't start his breathing treatments sooner, but again.... he was fine on Tuesday except for a runny nose. And this child had a runny nose constantly last winter. His dad flies all of the time and brings airplane illness home to all of us. So I didn't think much of the runny nose on Tuesday. Ouch* pang of guilt* maybe that was one of his triggers for asthma that I didn't know. I suck.
